Some further tutorial materials for managing user accounts
Login to your DCS account:
Copy an html page into your public_html directory. Change permissions
so that the file is world readable. View it through your browser.
Investigate the Skel files in your DCS account. Which shell
is running? Perform some changes to your settings, eg change the umask
so that none of your files are readable by others; add an alias
to your rc file so that the "nano" command invokes "pico".
Hacking exercise
Try the mounting example (using your own I drive) according to the slides
about hacking. What does showmount show? Can you mount anything using the UML?
Please, don't try to look at anybody else's files and
don't spend too much effort on this. Hacking of university resources
is not allowed according to the university's policies.
